“The answer is easy if you take it logically” said Paul Simon in one of his most famous songs. Whenever people start a new business or take over a new one, a group is established with a goal in mind. Mind you, they aren't a Company yet: they are still a group of people gathered around a purpose. In the best prediction, they are already a business group. If not, the first step is to actually become one. We will discuss how in the next posts.
Once a business group is established, the next quantum leap is to turn it into a real Company. Before getting a leading position in the market, being a Top Company means to have a strong leadership and a long term vision. Rich Gee, in an interesting recent post, affirms the times of short term thinking are over, and so is the era of the ego, and it time to do the right thing. Doing the right thing means to embrace a long term vision. This allows a business to become and remain a reality in the market. Its values and skills will be able to survive any crisis and stand on deep and strong foundations “when the winds of changing shift.”
Only like that it will be possible, whenever people buy a product or service from your Company, to say it's not a sale of a product or service: they are embracing your long term vision. And your business won't help but become stronger and stronger. So will your Company.
