On the Law of Attraction

On the Law of Attraction

The Secret, the Law of Attraction, attract abundance... every attempt to find a better name for that state of mind inevitably ends up increasing nominalisations for something that, more than anything else, resembles a Zen attitude. The assumption "the form is void" actually recalls God's prohibition to Moses to make images of any kind trying to describe Him (Exodus 20:4). That invites us to concentrate on real matters, not on the form such matters will use to come true (or, as the Law of Attractions purist would say manifest.)

What both Zen and the Bible mean is that giving a form is reductive, limiting and counterproductive. Musical instruments have such a shape for technical reasons but a book could well have been circular or made of plastic. A book is not its shape, it's the combination of words, thoughts and images in that.

As in every other field, the biggest part of the work is "put the train on the right track." Once the goal, the final point is set, it will find its way accordingly. Water flows out from a mountain spring. In order to become a river, it faces many situations and obstacles and always finds a way to make it through. If, in the end, it ends up forming a lake, there's always a reason for that. Michelangelo said statues are already inside the marble, all he had to do was carve them out. For David things were a little harder, but the statue found its way out anyway (email me and I'll gladly tell the story.) When I translated "The Law of Attraction in Action" into Italian I was surprised by how many times Esther repeated "in other words", as if to say there was always another way to say that, that all were right and, in the end, none was enough, there was always something more or something missing. Seems like the only way a goal expressed only in words can come true is when it is expressed in the absolute best possible way, leave no stone unturned. Good luck. It's like making images of God (again, email and I'll gladly tell the story too.)

Great signs for mankind always appeared in dreams. Dreams are made of images and feelings, words play a modest role. Finding the right words when telling a dream is often a pattern interruption which freezes the moment and "blocks the flow." That's why a simple writing leaves room for imagination and, as a paradox, makes people understand more than a detailed explanation.

Setting your imagination aside, leaving words to lead the game, is the first step to neglect the Law of Attraction.

Remember, a book is not necessarily rectangular shaped and made of paper. it's those images engraved in that, which someone calls words.
